For more than a decade, Deb Mohlenhoff has been a tireless and effective community volunteer and leader. Deb is committed to improving the lives of the residents of Ithaca and making the city a safer, greener, and more enjoyable place to live, work, and play.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Deb has lived in the City of Ithaca since her Senior year at Ithaca College in 1992 and has spent the last 20 in the 5th Ward. She is currently employed by Tompkins Cortland Community College as the Director of Student Activities and the Student Center. She manages the facility, provides leadership training to students, advises the Student Government Association, coordinates student clubs,allocates the college's Student Activity Fee, and provides co-curricular programming for commuter and resident students. Previously, she worked at Ithaca College in a variety of Student Affairs jobs for over 17 years. In her last job at Ithaca College, she was responsible for the development of a formal community service program for the college. She worked as a liaison between non-profit agencies and the college to provide experiential service opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.
Deb relocated to Ithaca when she began her undergraduate tenure at Ithaca College where she received a Bachelor's of Science in Communications. Deb also completed a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Binghamton University with a concentration in Non Profit Management. She was inducted into Phi Alpha Alpha, the national Public Administrator’s Honor Society, and completed her degree with a 4.0 GPA.
Deb has served on the boards of several local non-profits as well as provides Strategic Planning services for local organizations.

Community Organizer for Ithaca is Love
In response to the Orlando nightclub tragedy, developed an initiative to support the local LGBTQIA+ community:
-Coordinated a local fundraiser and community photo with over 600 participants
-Serve as advisory member of the Ithaca is Love Board of Directors
Community Organizer for Wizarding Weekend
Assisted the local business community in establishing an annual festival for fans of the Harry Potter genre
Serve as the Volunteer Coordinator
Program Director for Leadership Tompkins
Direct a 9 month community leadership development program for professionals looking to be involved as volunteers in our community.
Founding Member of Giving is Gorges
Deb has been a member of the planning committee for the annual community event since its inception.
Giving is Gorges is a day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Giving is Gorges is an initiative of GiveGab, The Community Foundation of Tompkins County, The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, and the AFP Finger Lakes Chapter.
Advocacy Work Fighting Back Against Cancer
One of Deb's personal missions is to contribute to the fight against cancer. She has been an active volunteer locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally with the American Cancer Society.
Deb’s volunteer service began when she served as a Relay For Life Team Captain.She has also represented New York State at Celebration on the Hill as an ACS CAN Legislative Ambassador – serving as an advocate for access to health care and funding for cancer research. She served on the National Relay For Life Advisory Team and helped to develop the nationwide campaign to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Relay For Life. In October of 2007, she traveled across the globe to Penang, Malaysia to teach a workshop on Relay For Life to volunteers establishing Relay in that country. She also established a Colleges Against Cancer chapter at Ithaca College and served as the Chair of the Tompkins County Relay for life at which a national commercial for Relay for Life was filmed.

Deb is married to Mark Spadolini, a career Firefighter for the City of Ithaca. Mark also serves on the board of the Tompkins County SPCA and The McGraw House. They enjoy traveling, boating on Cayuga Lake, and spending time with their adopted rescue puppies Polly and Olive.
